This week we made the difficult decision to suspend training until next year. This includes our Saturday Soccer and Wildcats sessions.

It’s time to get cracking on the Christmas shopping so why not kick things off with a visit to the club shop? Pick up some joggers, a jacket, or a woolly winter hat and keep the Eagles’ embers burning during the latest lockdown layoff.

Having worked so hard to get the season underway, we’re sad to report that grassroots football will once again be forced to stop after the government tightened its Covid-19 restrictions.

And they’re back! After a long, Covid-interrupted break the Saturday Soccer team enjoyed its first session since March. Welcoming 26 youngsters to the St Stephen’s training ground, and in glorious sunshine, the morning’s play had everyone smiling as it was so good to be playing with friends and getting the ball rolling once more!

As a club we are really keen to build a pool of reliable referees that can cover our games. You don’t need to be qualified, but if you are committed we are very happy to pay for you to attend a refereeing course. You can become a referee from the age of 14.

What a fantastic start to our brand new Wildcats programme! Spurred on by a warm day and blue sky, our 18 football-mad new recruits were put through their paces by head coach Jo and her brilliant all-female coaching team. 

Vice Chairman Tony Payne has set up this season’s Canterbury Eagles Fantasy Football league. We’d love as many Eagles players and parents as possible to sign up and make this season’s league more competitive than ever!

With the new season almost upon us we’re delighted to welcome our new U8s and U10s Junior teams. The U8s have come up from Saturday Soccer to start playing league matches while the U10s Juniors are our second team to be playing in that age group. We wish both teams the best of Eagles luck for the 2020/21 campaign!

Yes, our sessions for budding female footballers is finally here - having been delayed by a few months due to Covid-19. On Saturday 5th September our first session will take place at Simon Langton Girls’ School.

We’re delighted to announce that Saturday Soccer returns for our youngest players from 12 September. at St Stephen’s Junior School. The session will run from the slightly earlier time of 9.30 until 10.30.

Thank you to everyone who is up to date with the monthly club fees and we hope everyone is coping okay with the lockdown. It’s certainly not easy, especially without our weekly football to look forward to!

We’re delighted to share the fab news that we’ve been approved by the FA to be a Wildcats Centre for girls’ football.

We’re over the moon to welcome Canterbury Old Bags United to the Eagles family. The Old Bags is a group of football mad women who have come to play the beautiful game a little later in life and are joining us to help with our development of girls’ football in Canterbury.

Close to 80 members of Canterbury Eagles squeezed on their skates for a group Christmas outing at Dane John Ice Rink on Sunday night.

The Three Lions put seven past Montenegro to secure their place in Euro 2020, and our very own U8 player Joe Payne had the honour of accompanying Harry Kane onto the pitch in what was an unforgettable evening for both!

There’s huge excitement in the camp this week as one of our U8s has been chosen to make their England debut!
