The Eagles United

With nine different Eagles teams training and playing in different parts of Kent every weekend, it’s a rare thing to have all of us in once place at the same time.

But on Saturday 22nd June, we managed to get every team, coach and a whole host of super supportive parents and carers to come together at our annual Presentation Evening. And what a great night it turned out to be.

The event kicked off with every team having its 2018/19 achievements recognised with a special medal for each player, plus a few extra awards for Players’ Player, Manager’s Player and most improved player of the season across the board.

The coaches got the opportunity to thank their players for all the hard work and dedication shown over the season and to start to build the buzz around what’s possible in 2019/20.

A special mention must go to the U8s who, in their first season together, managed to turn around a not so successful start in the autumn, into a Cup win, sweeping away a host of much more experienced sides in their quest to get their hands on the Plate. So, a massive well done to Tom Oven and Corran Gourlay and their incredible bunch of players.

YO! Street Zone

As a bit of entertainment on the night, for the players (and some coaches) we invited street football organisation YO! Street Zone along to show us their silky skills. Based in Margate they specialise in teaching effective skills, ball mastery, freestyle and Panna Football, helping players to be more confident and creative with the ball.

And, while the kids loved it, we think there were some adults who may have enjoyed it even more…

The raffle was a winner

On entry to the event, organised by the newly-formed Eagles Committee, guests were asked to buy raffle tickets to have a chance of winning one (or three as it turned out in some cases) of an array of, unusually excellent raffle prizes, including a Pandora Bracelet, pair of Oakley Sunglasses and a £50 Marks and Spencer voucher. Thank you to everyone who secured a prize for us; the raffle raised an awesome £350 which will go towards future improvements for the club.

Thank You!

So, thank you for coming along to support your players, we hope you had a brilliant time. And if you’re new to the club, we look forward to welcoming you at next year’s event, after what we expect to be another amazing season at Canterbury Eagles FC.
