Joe’s magic mascot moment

It was a magical night for England and Eagles fans at Wembley.

The Three Lions put seven past Montenegro to secure their place in Euro 2020, and our very own U8 player Joe Payne had the honour of accompanying Harry Kane onto the pitch in what was an unforgettable evening for both!

We were awarded the coveted mascot place by the FA thanks to our efforts to get the club using their Matchday App and collecting match fees and annual payments through the PayPal system.

Eagles were also delighted to be able to take a player and parent/carer from each team from U8-U15 to Wembley courtesy of tickets from the FA. So a big thank you to the FA and Wembley for looking after us so well and to the England team for providing us with a win to send us all home happy.

Joe had this to say about his mascot experience “It was amazing and a bit scary at the beginning as there were so many people looking at me.” His dad, Tony (U14s manager and club vice chair), said “Although Joe did look a bit apprehensive in the line up pictures, he was just a little overwhelmed by the whole occasion and the fact that he was drawn with Captain Kane and first to leave the tunnel was a bit daunting! But he really enjoyed it and would like to thank the FA for giving him this fantastic opportunity.”
