A win for player welfare
Our ethos of being a truly inclusive club has been strengthened with a £200 award from Canterbury Council’s Opportunities fund. The money will go into our player welfare pot, enabling us to offer a little bit of financial help to families who are finding it difficult to pay the monthly fees.
And to see first hand what we’re all about, Labour Councillor, Pip Hazelton popped along to this week’s Saturday Soccer session. Having watched the youngsters playing and having fun, Pip was impressed with our set up.
“It’s lovely to see so many youngsters enjoying themselves at Canterbury Eagles Saturday Soccer. The organisers, coaches, other volunteers and parents make this a very special club for children. They were having so much fun and learning important football and life skills at the same time. This will undoubtedly be the introduction for many of them to a lifelong love of the game. I could feel a real sense of community out there today. Well done everyone!”
Club Chairman Jamie Griggs was there to meet Pip and talk to her about how we engage with the community and how we strive to make grassroots football accessible to all.
“We pride ourselves on being a community based club that provides footballing opportunities for children of all ages and ability. Pip’s visit was much appreciated and it was a pleasure to chat with her about the growth of Canterbury Eagles, the many fantastic volunteers we have, our partnerships with schools and universities and the importance we place on inclusivity. We look forward to working with the council to give as many young people as possible the chance to experience playing regular football as part of our fantastic football club.”
We’re always happy to welcome new players and volunteers to our club. If you’re interested in playing for Canterbury Eagles, or want to join us as a volunteer, please get in touch via our Contact form.
